Another very slow day at work.
Last night I met Amanda for a drink before the basketball game... I ordered a beer and the bartender (girl) carded me. I'm pretty used to that, and I'm getting used to her response... which was she took my ID, checked it, and handed it back. She went to get my beer, and upon returning says, "You don't look that old at all. I mean you look like you're in your mid-twenties. You look really good for being that old....." and then she realized how bad that sounded because I started laughing and she says, "I mean not that that is old, but......" and sort of trailed off. It was funny. But it's really funny that as I get older more and more people are looking at my ID and thinking it's fake. So, I suppose I can put off the Botox for a few more years....
Today's outfit was another last-minute outfit... this is what makes me a "recording what I wear" blogger and not a "fashion blogger". I often wear things that aren't awesome or impressive! There are a lot of days when I'm just doing good to get dressed and get to work! :)
I am tired today, after the late basketball game I wasn't feeling planning an outfit, I just wanted to go to bed!
My outfit today:
Pants: Banana Outlet, $24
Tee: NY&Co, Clearance, $7.99
Cardigan: Old Navy, $10
Bracelet: Forever 21, $4
Shoes: Bamboo, via Burlington, $12
These cheapie shoes have saved me so many times! I can throw them on with anything and they "go". These pants are actually a weird length (prob why they were in the outlet) and my high heels are too high and flats don't work, so this 2-2.5 inch heel is about the only thing that works well with them.
This is my chronicle of what I am able to do with just the things I already own. I am attempting to create real world, professional, but fun, outfits using what I already own; basically shopping in my own closet.

Nice compliment yesterday...
Yesterday as I was walking on campus to meet with Verge for lunch, a girl stopped me and said, " I just have to tell you, your outfit is really cute." What a nice compliment! Earlier that morning, my boss complimented my blouse and then, at lunch, one of the waitresses complimented my jacket. I'd say yesterday's outfit was a winner! :)
Today's is just relaxed because that is the mood I was in this morning. Fighting hump-day syndrome and knowing that it would be damp and cold in my building, I decided on a warm outfit, even though it is almost 80 degrees outside today.
Going to the last Men's basketball home game tonight. Dressing very casual to that too!
My outfit:
Jeans/leggings: Dickies (yes, I know, but they are cute) via Amazon, $13
Top: Banana Clearance, $14
Sweater: JC Penny, $22
Boots: Cole Haan, $120
I'm sad because I think this may be these boots' last season. I've had them (and worn them like crazy) for about 6 years now. The black is starting to wear off the leather in several spots, the right boot squeaks when I walk, it's just a sad state of affairs. :(

And the rain begins....
It is another misty foggy damp morning here. Had to wear a hat on our morning walk just to attempt to keep my hair tame this morning. (Which is also why it is in a ponytail today!)
Not too much going on today. Actually had some work to do yesterday (finished in 3/4ths of a day what it will take my co-workers a week or more to do). Then I had another project hit my desk yesterday too which should keep me busy for this morning. I so prefer to be busy than twiddling my thumbs!
Today's outfit:
Pants: Random Brand from the old Dillard's Clearance Center, $9
Grey top: NY & Co, after Christmas sale, $12.99
Jacket: Ann Taylor Loft, $30
Shoes: J. Renee, via Dillard's, $30
My hair actually looks cute today, but my loose pieces look stupid in these pictures!!

Monday Blahs
I have a case of the "blahs" today. Had a great relaxing weekend, but at some point over the weekend, I realized that on March 1st, I will have been in my current job for 3 years. For someone who was over this job about 9 months in, that is a long time. Especially since I've actively been trying to find another job for over a year. So that makes me a little sad. Praying (every second) that the potential job on the horizon pans out.
Yesterday, I attempted to be creative in the kitchen and it didn't pay off. :) I thought I would "bread" some chicken breasts in grits prior to sauteing them. Well, what I learned is that the flavor is okay- not as "corny" as I thought and the breasts I used were way too thick. The grits were burning by the time the chicken was cooked through. If I'd pounded them out to be thinner or if I'd attempted to bake them with the grits it would've worked better. I also made a big pan of roasted veggies to eat on this week. Broccoli, zucchini, mushrooms and new potatoes. Yum!
Veggies pre-cooking
Chicken and cooked veggies with a sprinkle of feta
Today I'm wearing:
Dress: Banana Republic, Clearance, $10
Sweater: JC Penny, $12
Tank: Old Navy, $5
Shoes: Bandolino, via DSW, $24

Thursday/Tuesday
I love short work weeks!! It feels undoubtedly like a Tuesday, but it's Thursday! Fabulous!! I found my camera cord, so I can upload yesterday's pictures and a few from the weekend as well.
My first day (yesterday) of eating only non-processed foods proved to me that I'm going to have to really plan out meals and do a lot of cooking or I won't make it! I didn't cook anything Tuesday night so yesterday I didn't have anything non-processed to eat for lunch other than a bag of steam-able broccoli and cauliflower. So, that was my lunch (with an orange) While it satiated me temporarily, I was starving by the time I got home. I decided last night to cook the butternut squash I'd gotten at the produce stand, black beans and sauteed white fish fillets. The outcome of my dinner was that I remembered I don't really like butternut squash, and if you accidentally get fish fillets wet prior to cooking they become stinky mush. So, basically, my dinner last night was black beans and a few swallows of butternut squash. Ick.
Today for lunch I'm having a big salad and I think tonight I'll cook some chicken and have more veggies with my left over black beans.
My outfit today:
Jacket: St. John's Bay, Penny's, $18
Top: Worthington, Penny's, Clearance, $9.99 (pulled tag off today)
Pants: AB Studio, Penny's, Clearance, $8
Shoes: Tahari, via DSW, $24
Turned out to be an outfit from JC Penny! :)
I realized after I took these pictures that I forgot to put mascara on today. Yikes!! I look tired anyway but the lack of definition around my eyes is scary!!

After a nice long weekend..... and the start of Lent
Had a great long weekend, thanks to the Mardi Gras break. Don't have hardly any pictures to post from the weekend but it was fun!
Today is the beginning of Lent. Hoping some things fall my way in the next month or so. My Lenten "sacrifice" this year is that I'm going to not eat any processed foods. Basically meaning if it doesn't grow naturally, I'm not eating it. Also, if it grows naturally but has been altered, I'm not eating it. This means I'll be cooking a lot and eating a lot of vegetables and fruits. Trying to get back to what nature intended and cut out so many of the chemicals we eat every day in packaged foods. What I hope will be good about this diet is that I can make things like crackers, with real ingredients, so I can still eat some of those things that we think of as usually only coming out of a box, I just have to do it the old fashioned way and make it! Should be interesting. I'll update the progress on here.
My outfit today:
Pants: NY&Co, $16
Top: Banana Clearance, $10
Sweater: Forever 21, $7
Shoes: Bamboo, via Burlington, $12-15 can't remember exactly
