Even when I don't have the busiest of weekends, it seems like time flies. I was out running errands Saturday morning, lazy Saturday afternoon, headed to the game about 3:30 and before you know it, my alarm is going off and it's Monday morning! Well, okay, my Sunday was a little more productive than that, but it just went by too quickly. I didn't get to take Jax to a park, which I wanted to do, but between waking up early, doing laundry, church and then the outlet mall (yes, I sinned.... hahah a reference to the mall, not church) and then eating a late lunch with Amanda, it was 3:30 before I knew it and I still had plenty of chores to do!
So, about the sinning.. nothing too bad. Banana Republic Factory store sent out coupons for an additional 30% off this weekend. Well, I know typically I can find some work clothes there at really good prices so I figured I could go and just see what they had. I've been on the hunt for a nice black pencil skirt as I've realized the majority of my skirts are prints and the solid black skirts I have are either a. A-line b. have some razzle-dazzle (like a mesh underlying hem that peeks out a bit, or really high work-inappropriate slits, not sure what I was thinking) or c. are just old and have lost their shape. So, I have needed a nice pencil skirt for some time now. Banana stepped up to the plate. I found a very nice weight black pencil skirt, a cobalt blue skirt that can be used for work or play and a blue abstract print shirt with 3/4 sleeves. The pencil skirt was 50% off, the blue skirt 60% off and the shirt 70% off. Then I had my 30% coupon, so for the three items, my total was $49. I was happy. :)
And I know that shopping at all defeats my mission, but I feel really good about the fact that 90% of the time, I'm sticking to my mission and what I'm noticing is that while I'll still go wander through the mall, I am really scrutinizing clothes now, not just buying things because they are a good deal. I also feel like I am making much more conscious decisions about what I need and don't need, and I'm seeing a difference in my finances, which is great! (Not like this is rocket-science, but I'm dealing with an addiction here people! :) ) I should've taken a picture of the clothes I bought yesterday. Maybe I'll do that tonight and post them tomorrow.
Here are some random pictures from the weekend....
My errands outfit:
Jeans: LC, for Kohls $28
Swaeter: French Connection, NOLA, $30
Flats: Nine West $18
Jax waiting at the door Friday night while I took pics of the hay still on my car hood from Mom's visit...
Pics from the game:
My outfit:
Jeans: ABS via Smart Bargains, $28
Top: Loft (BR Boutique) $32
Boots: Calvin Klein via TJ Maxx $99
Finally, a night game in Tiger Stadium!
This is my chronicle of what I am able to do with just the things I already own. I am attempting to create real world, professional, but fun, outfits using what I already own; basically shopping in my own closet.

It's almost the weekend!
That's what I tell Jackson every Friday morning when I'm leaving the house. It's not like he doesn't realize that, since obviously he can read the calender on his Blackberry, but it makes me feel better telling him anyway. :) This morning when we went out for our walk there was frost on the grass! Crazy considering how warm it was earlier this week!
I don't have a very busy day today. A few phone calls to make, a little work to get done and a lot of watching the clock! This weekend, I'll get some errands run early Saturday and then it'll be off to the game with Amanda. I don't intend to get to campus too early as I am not really interested in tailgating for this one. By kickoff, it should be kinda chilly, so I am not sure what I'll end up wearing!
Today I'm wearing:
Jeans: Dickies (no kidding) jeggings, bought online last year, $20
Shirt: Karen Kane, Dillards Clearance, $24
Sweater: JC Penny Clearance, $10
Scarf: DKNY, Christmas gift last year
Boots: Ciao Bella
Watch: MK
My biggest issue with the way I'm having to take these pics is you can never really tell the colors in this light. This slightly overexposed pic shows more color than the others...
And then I took this pic to show I really am wearing some good colors today! :)

What a difference a day makes!
One of the most simple things that can happen in the morning to make your whole day better? Thinking it's Wednesday and then realizing it's Thursday. It's almost as good as time travel! I've checked my planner twice now making sure it is in fact Thursday. That, my friends, is a good day!
Disclaimer: I had to take a muscle relaxer last night b/c my back was so tight, so that may have induced my reverse-time sleep coma. :)
Either way, my morning was off to a good start! Walked Jax and it was much chillier than yesterday; tomorrow morning it is predicted to be in the 30s when we are out, so that will be fun.... This weekend is a home game, Amy may come down, it will be a low-key game for sure. I'm looking forward to a relaxing weekend after the busy weekend last week!
My outfit today:
Jacket: Willi Smith, TJ Maxx, $15
Skirt: NY & Co, 100 years ago; well, not 100, maybe 9
Sweater: 2-in-1 from Harolds before they closed. Clearance, $15
Boots: Cole Haan
Necklace and Earrings: Hut in Harborwalk Village, Destin (sigh...)
Who needs to see my whole face? Not me.... :)
Seeing an outfit in pictures is always revealing... this outfit looks so much better with the jacket on. The green seems to be too stark of a contrast with the skirt. I'll have to remember that!
Apparently they are holding on to some dust from last Friday's early Brec feeding!

Wednesday
Well, I figured out the trick to not waking up at 4.... tell myself I'm going to get up at 5:40 to workout. I set my alarm for 5:40.... woke up when a storm passed through about 2 and reset the alarm for 6:25 and slept all the way til then. My half-asleep self is so evil about talking my half-awake self out of early morning workouts! Oh well, I'll get it done this evening. At least I slept well last night!
I don't have much of interest to talk about today. This week will be slow; Game this weekend. It's supposed to continue to rain off and on today, I think and the temps are predicted to drop considerably. My outfit sort of reflects that.
My outfit today:
Pants: Cropped pants, Old Navy $9
Top: White tee, Banana Republic Clearance
Jacket: Apt 9, Kohls, $24
Shoes: Aldo
Bracelet: So Good Jewelry, New Orleans
Sunglasses: NY & Co $10

Tuesday
Well, I woke up at 4 am again pretty much wide awake. I forced myself to doze off and on until 6:25 but I mean come on!!! The time change is killing me. I'm thinking maybe while my body is waking up earlier I should do some early morning workouts. I'm just not sure. I do know that part of me felt like I was late for work all morning since it was so bright out when I was walking J this morning!
These pants are longer than I realized (first time I've worn them) and looser than when I bought them, thus they look quite wide-legged and I'm having to really tie the belt tight to hold them up where they need to be. I had to try on a few pairs of shoes this morning to find some that "worked" with these pants. What I ended up going with is a pair I haven't worn yet, that really are too dressy for this outfit, but I wanted to give them a dry-run to see how they fit/felt after some wear. What I realized within the first 30 minutes of wearing them is that they are probably 1/2 size too big. Nothing a gel insole can't fix, but frustrating none the less since my heel is slipping out of them with every step I take. When you lose weight, does it come out of your feet too? :)
My outfit today:
Pants: Random Brand, Marshalls, $20
Top: Old Navy Clearance, $8
Watch: MK
Shoes: Tahari, DSW Clearance, $24

Monday Monday
Well, I should start off saying I had a fabulous weekend! I had special visitors and I very much enjoyed their visit, even though the presence of one said visitors meant very little down-time this weekend! :) Mom and Kramer came to Baton Rouge for a trafficking visit, which totally sounds like it might involve illegal activities but did not. It was simply an opportunity to take the horse somewhere new and see how he behaved. Much to our delight, he was quite a good boy.
Since most of the time this weekend was spent at the barn, I have no cute outfit pictures to speak of. I do however have some shots from the barn times this weekend.
Kramer in the "Horse Hotel" at Brec
First ride at Brec
Awesome hay times
Last ride on Sunday
And how about that Bama game? Wow! Great time to be a tiger! I'm just so happy that they won and even more excited about the Atlanta trip now!
Today I had to bid farewell to Mom (always sad) and the horse, since I got to feed him before work this morning. You can probably still see some of the barn remnants on my shoes! My outfit today is just comfy casual. The time change is reeking havoc on my sleep and I'm thinking by mid-week that is going to catch up with me!
Today's outfit:
Pants: Dillard Clearance, $8.50
Top: Worthington, JC Penny's Clearance, $8
Sweater: Frock Candy, $20
Bracelets: Forever 21, $5
Shoes: Liz Claiborne, DSW Clearance, $20
