Friday!

Well, it's Friday! Stayed home yesterday, so no outfit post. Jackson seems to be better every day. This morning, on our walk he seemed almost back to normal. He is supposed to get his anti-inflammatories and pain meds through Sat, so I'll do that and I'm hoping by Sunday when he's off of them that he'll be fine. :)
I'm wearing red today since it's Wear Red for Heart Disease day... Initially had on some dark blue jeans with this top, which I liked better, but they were too long to wear with flats and I didn't feel like fighting over the hem, so last minute, I switched to these jeans. Honestly, I don't love the look at all, but I was running short on time, so I just had to go with it. I have to find a pair of cute jeans that I can get hemmed and wear with flats.
It's supposed to be rainy all weekend here, so I plan to be inside a lot. I'll take pictures if I end up doing anything festive for the Super Bowl.

My outfit today:
Jeans: Kenneth Cole Outlet, $20
Top: New York and Co, Very old
Shoes: Bamboo, via Burlington, $10

Wasn't I just talking about the joys of (dog) parenthood????

Last night, after I worked out, I took J out to the backyard for a "quick pee". He wandered down the hill and was sniffing about and then came running up the hill with his left hind leg hiked up. I figured he had gotten into ants. So I rinsed his legs off and he still wouldn't put the foot down. I'm still thinking he's being a weenie at this point but he's starting to worry me. I felt all on his leg and hips and didn't feel anything strange but he was clearly hurting and shaking and wouldn't/couldn't sit or lie down and was glued to my leg so I knew something was up and I couldn't just sit around and watch that so off to the emergency vet we went. They ended up doing x-rays just to make sure there wasn't a fracture or anything (there wasn't) and they sent him home with anti-inflammatories and pain meds. Hopefully he improves steadily and it isn't anything more serious. This morning, it was pouring down rain so our walk was quite short, but he seemed to be willing to try to put some weight on the leg so that is promising. Dog-parent problems!!
Here are some of his sad pictures....

Of course some are sideways b/c all I had was my phone....

This is him holding his left hind foot up... kinda looks like he isn't here because all the fur blends, but he is.

He was so exhausted that he kept lying down in the exam room... notice his little leg still bent :(

This is him once we got home.... you can't see his tongue b/c of the fur, but it was hanging out of the side of his mouth most of the night.
This is him after our short "W" this morning and after a towel-off from being in the rain... He was chilly, and still sleepy!

And so for my outfit today:

Skirt: Express, Very old, I got it in college.
Shirt: Banana, Clearance, $16
Sweater: NY & Co after Xmas sale, $12.99
Shoes: Gianni Bini, via Dillards Clearance, $24

I think this outfit would obviously look better with some heels, but with the rain today and my stress last night, I just wanted to be comfortable!!

The joys of (dog) parenthood

First, dogs are like children, I don't care what anyone says to the contrary. Jackson got a haircut yesterday, which was the best part of his evening by far. He had some of my leftover chicken which one would think was harmless and a nice treat but maybe not....
Our evening is progressing as normal and we go to bed about 10. At about 12, I wake up because Jax is doing his sniffing noises at the edge of the bed, meaning he wants down. I get out of bed and set him down. I don't think much of it, because this happens fairly often, usually because he forgets to get a drink before bed and is super thirsty. I get back in bed, doze for a few minutes and he returns to the room and puts his paws on the side of the bed asking to be picked back up. I get out of bed again and put him on the bed. At about 2, I wake up to the same sniffing noises and a very restless J. It is evident something is wrong and I'm thinking he really needs to pee. So I throw a robe on and meet him at the back door. I put his leash on and get the door open and he sprints to the yard. I'm fully expected a big pee at this moment, but no, instead he does a nose-dive into the grass and starts eating. Uh-oh.
I realize at this point that for him to want/need grass/weeds that badly his stomach must really be upset. So, it's 2am, and I'm grazing my dog. (it's also about 35 degrees outside) I let him eat for a few minutes and then made him pee and we went back inside. He followed me back to the bedroom and immediately wanted to get in the bed. Since he often eats weeds and doesn't get sick, I figure he must've just needed that and he's feeling better. He curled up and went to sleep. Alls well that ends.... wait...... 4 am..... without any warning, Jackson jumps up and proceeds to vomit on the comforter. So, I get up again, turn on the light, and go get a plastic bag, cleaning stuff, etc... I'll spare you the details. Poor baby looked so ashamed but you could tell he felt better. After I finished cleaning about 4:30, I got back in bed and went to sleep. J did the same and was fine this morning.
So, yeah, he is my child and I have sleep deprivation today :)

Second, I forgot my camera today. I had to charge the battery yesterday and promptly left it sitting on the counter this morning. I also had the pictures from Friday on there to upload. However, fret not, the only thing you're missing out on is jeans and a sweater. However today's outfit is kinda cute so I took pictures with my cell phone which probably will turn sideways on here and I'll try to remember to snap one today when I get home. The pants are from the Limited and they are a dark grey, with tiny blue and tan pinstripes. It's hard to see from a distance. The blue pinstripes made me want to wear a blue top to bring them out. In person, it does, in the pictures, its hard to tell!

My  outfit today:
Pants: Limited, had forever
Top: Victorias Secret, old xmas gift from mom and dad
Shoes: Levity, via DSW, $30

Late post (and a quick one, too)

Posting late as I stayed mostly busy today. I dressed for comfort today since I've been behind a closed door the entire day. Tomorrow's outfit will be quite similar given the circumstances.

Highlight of the day? Kerri is coming in for the night bc she has work down here tomorrow. Yay!

My outfit:
Jeans: Very old Gap Long and Lean's
Sweater: Old Navy $15
Shoes: Liz Clairborne, Via DSW, $20

IDK why I have fat face lately. Must be eating too much salt lol!

Evolution of an outfit...

So when I originally laid this outfit out, it was this shirt and a totally different pencil skirt. Just happened to try the skirt on yesterday and it's a good inch too long... looked quite matronly. Now, I've owned that skirt for at least two years and while it didn't have tags on it, I'm beginning to wonder if I've ever actually worn it, or always just put it on and thought, hmmmm, this needs to be hemmed.....????? So, it is now hanging on a door knob, to be a reminder that I need to get it to the tailor.

The shirt, in person, is actually much more of a teal color than it appears in the pictures. I'm not a huge fan of  teal and black, so I needed a brown or grey skirt. I hadn't yet worn this skirt so I decided to give it a go. I was going to wear a peep-toe metallic pump, but decided to put brown tights on because my office is freezing. So that meant switching up the shoes and now I'm getting to wear (for the first time) the Michael Kors pumps I got on sale this summer as well. I was looking for a cardigan to throw on as well when it dawned on me (duh!) that I have the jacket that matches the skirt. So, I essentially ended up wearing a (casual) suit to work today.

First thing I was asked by a co-worker was, "Do you have a job interview or something?" Ridiculous. She just was bothered by the fact that I had a suit on and she'd chosen to wear jeans today. Insecure much?

I find that everything looks very choppy in these pictures, but in real life the colors flow more.
Perhaps the best part of the outfit, shoes excluded, is that it cost... wait for it..... $26 yep, $26.
The jacket and skirt were a super find at TJ Maxx this past summer. They were off season and on clearance. They had been marked down several times. I actually got this color and the same suit in black as well. The jacket was $10 and the skirt, $7.... what????????????? Yep!!!

So, my outfit today:
Jacket: TJ Maxx, Willi Smith, $10
Skirt: TJ Maxx, Willi Smith, $7
Top: JC Penny Clearance, $9
Shoes: Michael Kors, $55 on sale from Net-a-Porter

I didn't button the jacket, mostly because I forgot!
